3 Great Grand Rapids, MI Attractions To Visit

Being a Grand Rapids, MI house cleaning service I have the wonderful chance to meet a lot of great new people. Some are originally from Grand Rapids, others have just moved here from out of town. I enjoy talking to them and singing the praises about a city that I grew up in. I moved away for college and enjoyed seeing new parts of the country. However, I have always seen Grand Rapids, MI as my home. For those who are new to the city I would like to offer up a few great places around town. Hopefully these will help you explore Grand Rapids and West Michigan a little bit and help you get settled in.
3 Great Grand Rapids, MI Attractions
The Van Andel Arena is Grand Rapids downtown hot spot. They hold hockey games, concerts as well as hosting more extreme events like monster truck rallies. If you come from a larger city you may be used to a large arena where getting a premium seat matters if you actually want to see the show. Van Andel Arena is a great venue because it has a lot of seating, but there really isn’t a bad seat in the house. It is big enough to draw in large shows, but small enough that you can really feel the atmosphere. The prices are generally reasonable compared to larger venues which is a plus!
For those of you who want to enjoy something a little more quiet, Fredrik Meijer Gardens has a ton to offer. If you are into art take a stroll around the sculpture garden.
“Our permanent collection focuses on works by established and emerging sculptors from the Modern tradition to the present. Earliest works date to the second half of the 19th century with masters such as Carrier-Belluese, Degas, and Rodin. Starting with these masters, the comprehensive presentation includes sculptors from the late 19th century to the present. Works are sited throughout the Gardens both indoors and outdoors, with more significant concentration in the 30-acre Sculpture Park.”
They also boast a butterfly exhibit, children’s garden and much more. I would recommend setting aside a few hours so that you can go at your own pace taking in all that the gardens have to offer.
For those who work in the city and want to get away, heading to Grand Haven or Holland state parks are a must! Be sure to take your swim suit. During these warm summer months you can cool off in the fresh waters of Lake Michigan. Sit and relax on the beach, watch the boats go by and grab an ice cream cone on your way out. With only about a 30-40 minute drive you can see some of the most beautiful shores in the country. I often take for granted how wonderful we have it with the big lake being so close.
